The Electoral Commission (EC) has cleared 20 presidential Aspirants including People Power Principal Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu to go ahead with their consultation meetings. This was revealed by the EC Boss Justice Simon Byabakama in a press briefing to journalists on Tuesday morning. Bobi wine had at first started his consultations meetings but unfortunately the meetings were disrupted by the Uganda Police Force which claimed that Hon. Kyagulanyi and the People Power had not met the requirements of holding a consultative meeting. After the standoff between Kyagulanyi and the Police, the EC summoned Bobi wine to the institution headquarters and discussed how to carry out successful consultative meetings. Both parties agreed to coperate with the other. Recently while addressing journalists at the Naguru Police Headquarters, Police spokesman Fred Enanga said that they had not received any formal letter from Bobi wine seeking Police help and notifying it about the consultations. The People Power spokesman Joel Ssenyonyi had said on sunday that Police was already notified by them and they were waiting for Police’s response to start their consultations. The consultations are expected to resume at the Nsambya based Pope Paul Memorial Center.
